From Wednesday 1 April 2020, we are making changes to the way you can order your repeat prescriptions.
What are repeat prescriptions?
Repeat prescriptions are those medicines you receive on a regular basis, usually for a long-term condition, without having to go and see your GP every time you need them.
Some people order these repeat prescriptions themselves and other choose a pharmacy or dispensing company to order on their behalf.
What is changing?
From 1 April 2020, you (or a person you’ve nominated) will have to order your repeats prescriptions directly from Greenwood Avenue Surgery, Walkergate Surgery, Minstergate Surgery, Cottingham Medical Centre or Beverley & Molescroft Surgery. You will no longer be able to order repeat prescriptions through your pharmacy, an online pharmacy or other dispensing contractor.
What is not changing?
If you already order your repeat prescriptions from your usual surgery, you’re not affected and don’t need to do anything.
If you collect your medicine from your local pharmacy, or have arrangements in place to have it delivered to your door then speak to your pharmacy to continue these arrangements.
If you receive your medication through a monitored dosage system, for example a dosette box or a blister pack, this change will not affect you.
What do you need to do?
From 1 April 2020, or earlier, if you currently order your repeat prescriptions from a pharmacy, you will have to order from your usual surgery instead. You can do this:

Electronic Prescription Service
It’s EASY, SAFE, CONFIDENTIAL and FREE
Sign up at your local pharmacy and all your prescriptions will go directly to them electronically* straight from our system, so you can go straight to the pharmacy to collect. We can send them electronically to any pharmacy who is participating, they will have a sign in their window or ask them, so if you work in Hull, Bridlington or York etc and would like to collect your prescription from a pharmacy there, just pop in and sign up with them.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
